Biography
Giovanna Muscogiuri is Assistant Professor at University of Naples “Federico II”, staff member at the UNESCO Chair Federico II University, Naples and Full Professor of Medicine at University of Tucson, Arizona. She is a specialist in endocrinology and metabolic disease, having completed her education and training at the Catholic University of Rome. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship in metabolic diseases at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas, USA. Dr. Muscogiuri’s current research activities are centered on the study of circadian rhythm in endocrine and metabolic diseases. She carried out studies to investigate the role of chronotype (a behavioural aspect of circadian rhythm alignment) and sleep disturbances in the pathogenesis of obesity, obesity-related comorbidities and endocrine diseases. She was awarded for her scientific achievements by “the Early Investigator Award of the Italian Endocrine Association (SIE)”, “the Early Investigator Award of the Endocrine Society”, “the NIU Clinical Research Award of the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO)”, “Umberto Di Mario Award of the Italian Diabetes Society”, “Top Cited Author of the European Journal of Endocrinology” and “the Early Faculty Award of the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN)”.
