Biography
Hidekatsu Yanai, MD, PhD, FACP, is the Vice Director, National Kohnodai Medical Center, Japan Institute for Health Security (JIHS), and the Head, Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, National Kohnodai Medical Center, JIHS. He is also a Professor at Wayo Women’s University.
Dr. Yanai received his medical degree from National Defense Medical College, Japan, PhD from Hokkaido University, Japan. He conducted research as an Invited Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, U.S.A. Following his postdoctoral training, he engaged in research and clinical practice as an assistant professor and lecturer at The Jikei University School of Medicine. Subsequently, he assumed the position of Department Director at a Japanese National Center for Advanced Specialized Medical Research, and currently serves as the Vice Director of the National Konodai Medical Center.
Dr. Yanai has published 303 articles in peer-reviewed journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, JAMA, Circulation, and Diabetes Care. His total impact factor is 1525. His current h-index is 29.
Dr. Yanai’s current research interests include diabetes, endocrinology, lipid metabolism, atherosclerosis, and molecular biology.
